About Karrie
Who Is Karrie? What's Her Why?
I speak, create courses, and write because I’ve lived through profound loss, and I know the healing power of sharing our stories and expressing our emotions through art. My life has been shaped by challenges I never expected—losing my nephew Nicholas in a senseless act of violence, navigating the pain of that tragedy, and making the difficult decision to let him go by donating his organs. Nicholas’s death changed me in ways I can’t fully explain, but it also deepened my understanding of resilience and the strength we can find in the darkest times.
Being a single parent, I’ve faced many other struggles, from raising two children on my own to trying to balance my own personal healing while being their rock. I've lost people I loved, battled my own grief, and at times, felt overwhelmed by the weight of it all. But what has kept me going is the belief that even in the hardest moments, there is always a way to transform pain into something meaningful. Art has been my lifeline—it gave me a voice when I couldn’t find the words and a path to healing when everything felt broken.
Through my work, I want to help others find that same sense of hope and empowerment. Whether I’m speaking to a group, designing a course, or writing, my goal is to provide a space where people can explore their emotions, face their challenges, and turn their grief or struggles into something that gives them strength. I believe we all have the capacity to rise from our hardships and create something beautiful out of them, and I’m here to guide others on that journey.

The Five-Stages Of Grief... In No Particular Order
Grief is a deeply personal experience that follows no set path, and trauma often affects us in ways we cannot foresee. There is no roadmap, and the process can feel overwhelming at times. The stages of grief, while not necessarily experienced in a specific order, are shared here in the hope that they may help you recognize where you are on your journey. My wish is that these insights bring validation to your feelings and emotions as you navigate this challenging time with care and compassion.
Stage 1
<Depression>
The weight of the loss becomes fully felt, leading to deep sadness, withdrawal, and a sense of hopelessness. This is a period of mourning and reflection on the loss and its impact.
Stage 2
<Anger>
Feelings of frustration, helplessness, or injustice arise as individuals begin to confront the reality of the loss. This anger may be directed at themselves, others, or the situation itself.
Stage 3
<Acceptance>
In this stage, individuals begin to make peace with the loss, understanding that while life is forever changed, they can move forward. It involves finding a new way to live with the reality of the situation.
Stage 4
<Denial>
In this stage, individuals struggle to accept the reality of the loss, often feeling numb or in shock. It serves as a temporary defense mechanism to cope with overwhelming emotions.
Stage 5
<Bargaining>
Individuals in this stage often dwell on "what if" scenarios, seeking ways to reverse or lessen the impact of the loss. It reflects a desire to regain control or avoid the painful reality.
